Cuzco
Due to its position as the capital of the Inca dynasty, contemporary Cuzco,
a city of 3200 metres above sea level, is a showcase of several different
cultures: Pre-Inca, Inca, Colonial and Republican. Once an administrative,
military and holy city, it is now the oldest inhabited city of the Americas.
Ruins, temples, churches and mansions make this a memorable destination,
full of history and culture.
The Inca's most sacred building in Cuzco, the Korikancha Ruins (Temple of
the Sun), today forms part of the Spanish church of Santo Domingo. Cuzco
is the gateway to Machu Picchu (the legendary 'Lost City of the Incas'), the
famed Sacred Valley of the Incas, to the Pisac and Ollantaytambo markets,
the rainforests of Manu and Tambopata and to Lake Titicaca, birthplace of
the Inca.

| SALKANTAY TREK TO MACHU PICCHU

The Salkantay Trail travels through valleys filled with a variety of flora and fauna, cloud forests and scenery including snow capped mountains and glaciers. The highest peak on this journey is at the Salkantay Huamantay pass (14,800 ft) and the trek also passes by the thermal springs at Santa Teresa and includes a visit to the Machu Picchu Hydroelectric plant.
The 5 day/ 4 night packag is based on 3 nights camping, one nights accommodation in Aguas Calientes, return train to Cuzco and a visit to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu.
INCA TRAIL TO SALKANTAY 5 DAYS 4 NIGHT (Seat in Coach Service)
Day 1: Cuzco – Soraypampa (D)
Early morning departure from Cuzco and travel past the towns of Izcuchaca, Limatambo and arrive at the town of Mollepata. (Approx. 3 ½ hours) From here you begin the trek to Soraypampa, your first camp site. (Approx. 6-7hr walk.)
DAY 2: Soraypampa – Huayracmachay (B, L, D)
After breakfast you will embark on the toughest stretch of the trek, along the site named Pampa Salkantay then heading towards the snow capped mountain of Umantay, next to the Salkantay.By midday you will reach the highest point of the trek at the Salkantay Humantay pass at 14,800feet, where you will have a magnificent view of the surrounding snowcapped peaks and glaciers. Descend for one hour and after lunch you will continue downhill for another three more hours to Huayracmachay, your second campsite.
DAY 3: Huaracmachay – Lluskamayo (B, L, D)
Depart from Huayracmachay towards the community of Arranniyuc, for an unforgettable day filled with a great variety of flora and fauna along the trail. Continue downwards through the cloud forest until reaching Santa Teresa river, where you will be able to enjoy the picturesque orchids and waterfalls. Lunch then continue walking until reaching your campsite in the evening.
DAY 4: Lluskamayo – Aguas Calientes Town. (B, L)
Leave early morning by truck to the town of Lluskamayo and pass by Santa Teresa, where you will find hot springs should you wish to take a relaxing bath (entrance not included). From there you will continue along the trail towards the Machupicchu hydroelectric plant. After lunch you will board the afternoon local train to Aguas Calientes, the small town located in the bottom of the mountain of Machu Picchu. Stay overnight at a tourist property in Aguas Calientes.
DAY 5: Macchu Picchu – Cusco (B, L)
After breakfast you will catch the bus up the mountain and visit the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu all day with our guide. After lunch you will take the afternoon backpacker train back to Cuzco and then be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.

CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK
5 Days / 4 Nights
Choquequirao (meaning cradle of gold) is one of the most recently
discovered ruins in Peru. Located in a canyon, 2000 metres above the
glacier-fed Apurimac River, the site is a hidden archaeological gem, often
referred to as Machu Picchu's sacred sister.
Trekking through here is a unique experience as the site is remotely
located along the Inca highway with the ruins fantastically preserved; only
certain areas are open to the public as others continue to be investigated
scientifically.
Day 1
Depart from Cuzco by bus stopping at the Tarawasi Ruins and Cunyac
Bridge on the way to Cachora. Begin the descent on donkeys into the
Apurimac Valley. Camp at Chiquiska.
Day 2
Continue trek across the Apurimac River and up to the Santa Rosa hill
and the Maranpata climb with impressive views of the valleys.
Day 3
Begin a two-hour hike to Choquequirao and take a guided tour of the
archaeological complex.
Day 4
Descend to Santa Rosa and visit Rosalina Beach before camping at

Day 5
Continue your ascent along the return route past the highest point of

MANU NATIONAL PARK

Accessible by road from Cuzco, the world heritage listed Manu National
Park is considered by many to be one of the finest ecotourism destinations
in the entire Amazon basin. With a surface area of 1,532,806 hectares, it is
one of the biggest protected areas of the tropical region in the planet. Along
with the Natural Reserve and the Cultural Zone, it constitutes the Biosphere
Reservation of Manu, recognized by UNESCO in 1977.
This park, given its climatic and geographic characteristics, has an enormous
diversity of wildlife. More than 2,000 plant species, 13 primate species,
five felines, a thousand bird species and still unknown amounts of fish,
amphibious, reptiles and insects. Within the park limits there are some
species endangered in the rest of the continent, such as the andean bear,
the taruca, the black lizard and the sea lion.

RESERVA AMAZONICA

This new elegant ecological is a first class
option within a jungle environment. Located
on the banks of the Madre de Dios River,
adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve
and within the 12,000 hectares of private
ecological reserve owned by Inkaterra.
There are four categories of cabañas to choose
from, all thatched and built on raised platforms
in the style of the indigenous Ese’ Eja people.
The lodge also includes pavilion with dining hall
and bar, a spa offering relaxation treatments and
a complex canopy system with more than 300 metres of tree top walkways,
hanging bridges and platforms for a bird’s eye view of the forest.

EXPLORAMA LODGE

The Explorama Lodge was established in 1964, and is some 80 km down the
river from Iquitos, deep in the heart of the primary rainforest.
Romantic kerosene torches and lamps illuminate palm-thatched houses
containing 10-17 private sleeping rooms. Covered connecting walkways
lead to the Tahuampa Bar, the dining room, the sun porch and two hammock
houses. Showers & toilet facilities adjoin each house. A variety of treks are
offered, including the Seven Bridges Trail.
Day 1 (L, D)
Pick up from airport, brief city orientation and boat transfer to
the Explorama dock. Afternoon hike through the lake trail and night walk/
boat ride through the forest.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
Morning walk through the Bushmaster trail. Afternoon boat
trip for dolphin spotting and possibly a chance for a swim.
Day 3 (B, L)
Morning hike to visit the river people and a local sugar cane rum
factory. Transfer back to Iquitos for flight to Lima.

EXPLORENAPO LODGE
5 Days / 4 Nights
Located on the Napo River, Explornapo is even deeper into the jungle, some
160 KM (100 Mi) from Iquitos and in the Sucusari Nature Reserve. This lodge is close to a privately owned plant & animal reservation, and is home
to the Amazon Canopy Walkway, the longest treetop walkway in the world
with 500m of trails that offer views from 36 metres above the jungle. With
similar facilities as the sister Explorama lodge, this program combines stays
at both resorts, offering more in terms of forest excursions and wildlife
viewing possibilities.
Day 1 (L, D)
Pick up at airport, city tour and transfer to the Explorama dock.
Afternoon jungle hike and night walk/boat ride.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
After breakfast, boat ride down the river from Explorama to
Explornapo lodge. Afternoon hike to the Renuperu Ethnobotanical Garden
and lecture by local shaman. Evening excursion down the Sucusari stream.
Day 3 (B,L,D)
Morning hike to the Canopy Walkway. Afternoon boating excursion
along one of the many Napo tributaries for some bird and sloth spotting.
Day 4 (B, L, D)
Morning excursion to surrounding lake systems and afternoon
boat trip back to Explorama Lodge.
Day 5 (B, L)
Morning visit to a local river community and sugar cane rum
factory. Afternoon river transfer to Iquitos and transfer to airport.
Due to the ever changing nature of the rainforest, day by day activities are
subject to change due to weather, trail or river conditions.

CEIBA TOPS
The Ceiba Tops lodge is a deluxe jungle resort where you can relax in style
in a jungle setting. The lodge offers extensive gardens, a swimming pool,
water slide, Jacuzzi, a hammock house as well as modern facilities such as
air conditioned rooms and cottages. Various excursions are available

Pick up from airport and tour of Iquitos. Boat transfer to the lodge
and afternoon excursion of surrounding primary rainforest.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
River boat ride for some pink dolphin spotting and visit to a
local Indian village. Afternoon excursion to the community of Indiana and
visit to the enormous ceiba tree.
Day 3 (B,L)
Choice of walking or boat excursion in the morning. Afternoon
boat transfer to Iquitos and to airport.

Muyuna Lodge is located on
the Yanacayu river banks, three
hours southeast of Iquitos.
Consisting of 17 bungalows,
each with private facilities and
a terrace facing the river.
Day 1 (L, D)
Transfer and
boat ride from Iquitos to the
lodge. Canoe or walking trip for
birdwatching and some alligator spotting in the evening.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
Canoe along the Juanachi Lake observing unique plants and
animals like parrots, macaws, toucans, sloths and monkeys. Hike through
the forest and go for a night walk to visit some tarantulas.
Day 3 (B)
Begin the day with some early bird watching, travel by motorboat
to the Amazon River to see the pink dolphins. Try some piranha fishing at the
Purura Lake before sailing back to Iquitos.

Day 1 IQUITOS – AMAZON LODGE
Upon arrival,transfer to the docks for departure by tropical boats called“pamacaris” on the Amazon River. Arrivalat Amazon Lodge and welcomed with fresh tropical fruit juices, beforejungle walk to meet the Yagua Indian tribe. In the afternoon, enjoy anecological walk in the virgin rain forest reserve at the Sinchicuysilloravine to appreciate the flora and fauna. Night boat tour orwalk to appreciate the mysterious sounds of the jungle. Lunch anddinner included.
Day 2 AMAZON LODGE
Breakfast,lunch and dinner included. Morning visit to the Botanicalgardens and Padre Isla (Father Island) where you will participate in afishing contest with a typical net called“tarrafa”. On the way back to the lodgeyou will visit a local trapiche (sugar mill)

The M/V RIO AMAZONAS was built in the late
1800's in Scotland. After following a long career
as a cargo/passenger ship on the Amazon River, it
was completely rebuilt to enable the international
traveller to experience the Amazon in basic comfort and take advantage of
an itinerary that explores life on the Amazon River and its people.

M/V AMAZON EXPLORER
The 16 passenger M/V Amazon Explorer was completely refurbished in 1994 and now serves a s aminiature cruise ship to small numbers of travellers on scheduled departures and charters. The ship sails from Iquitos into remote areas of the Upper Amazon on three and six night round trip cruises. She has eight air conditioned outside cabins each with private bath and showers as well as a small air-conditioned lounge in the mid-deck.

Why not continue your Amazon adventure by traveling the length of the river
into the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, Manaus. Departing from Tabatinga,
this adventure style cruise operates on a local cargo ship. These boats are
basic, and the accommodation offered is in hammocks or small cabins.
No excursions are offered, and food is normally family style. Ships sail on
Saturdays and Wednesdays.
