The north western provinces feature traces of pre-Columbian cultures mingled with the ruins of native villages, as well as forts and constructions dating back to the Spanish conquest and colonisation. Full day tour to Humahuaca Gorge passing by Leon Volcán, Tumbaya, Purmamarca and its Seven Colours Mountain, Tilcara and its Archaeological Museum and Pucara, and old Indian Fortress, the Uquia Church and Humahuaca.

Day 3 - SALTA / CAFAYATE (B, L)
Continental Breakfast. Full day tour of Cafayate with lunch on route. A drive through the spectacular Calchaqui Valleys up to the village of Cafayate. This is the wine producing area of the Northwest region. Lunch. Short visit of the village and return to Salta.

The Golfos Nuevo and San Jose are separated by the Itsmo Carlos Ameghino, which leads to the narrow peninsula jutting out into the Atlantic. Peninsula Valdes has been called an "open air zoo".

At Punta Norte there are elephant seals (breeding season late Sep/early Oct); at Caleta Valdes, 27 miles south of Punta Norte, you can see Magellan penguins (Oct-Nov nesting), sea lions (Dec-Jan breeding season) and elephant seals.

Day 1 - TRELEW
Transfer to Punta Tombo situated about 120 km from Trelew city on the ocean front. There it will be possible to observe the Magallanic Penguins. Transfer to Puerto Madryn for overnight.

Day 2 - PUERTO MADRYN (B)
Full day tour to Peninsula Valdes, Punta Norte or Caleta Valdes Fauna Reserve, the continental habitat of the sea elephants.

Day 3 - PUERTO MADRYN (B)

Day 1 - BARILOCHE - PEULLA (D)
Transfer from the hotel in Bariloche to Puerto Panuelo. Cruise aboard a catamaran along Nahuel Huapi Lake up to Puerto Blest. Bus ride to Puerto Alegre to board a second motorboat up to Puerto Frias.
After clearing customs, the tour continues across Vicente Perez Rosales pass to Peulla. Dinner and overnight at Natura Hotel.

Day 2 - PEULLA – PUERTO MONTT (B)
Cruise across Todos los Santos Lake to Petrohue. Bus ride along the shore of Petrohue river and along the coast of Llanquihue Lake to Puerto Varas and onto Puerto Montt. Accommodation at Vicente Perez Rosales Hotel or similar.

When the explorer Magellan sailed around the great island at the tip of South America, he saw Indian campfires all along the coast and called the island Land of smoke. It was later reasoned that where there is smoke there is fire and the name was eventually changed to Tierra del Fuego. The archipelago covers a total area slightly smaller than Ireland, with 70% belonging to Chile. The border runs down the middle of the Beagle Channel.

Tierra del Fuego is home to several of the world’s largest birds including the rhea, the condor and the albatross. Large animals also found there are guanacos, otters, seals and sea lions.

Day 1 - USHUAIA
Transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour to see the most interesting sites of the southern-most city in Argentina, located on the shore of the Beagle Channel with the Andes Mountains in the background. Visit to the Museum of the End of the World. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 - USHUAIA (B)
Day visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park, passing by Rio Pipo Valley and the Ensenada Bay, Beagle Channel, in sight of Redonda Island, Lapataia area and Verde and Negra Lagoons. Travel by catamaran along the Beagle Channel to see Bridges, Navarino, de los Pajaros Islands and Les Eclaireus Lighthouse. Return to Ushuaia for overnight stay.
