Day 4: Ms ZAANDAM (B) At Sea

Day 5: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Gateway to the scenic Lake District, a series of fragrant eucalyptus and pine forests, icy lakes, Bavarian hamlets and luminous snowcapped volcanoes. Sample shore excursions: Alerce Mountain Lodge & Lake of Reflections; Petrohué Rapids & Frutillar.

Day 6: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Here in the heart of the Chilean archipelago, discover stunning scenery: dense rain forests, bright-blue lakes and snow-covered mountain peaks. Sample shore excursions: Sights of Patagonia; Lake Elizalde Adventure.

Day 8: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Chilean Fjords

Fjords more spectacular than those in Norway or Alaska? See them here along the southern coastline of Chile . . .a 1,000-mile maze of virgin-forested islands, glistening glaciers and more fjords than in all of Scandinavia.

Day 9: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Amalia Glacier , Canal Sarmiento.

Be among the lucky few to spend a glorious day scenic cruising through Tierra del Fuego and the snow-capped peaks and ethereal blue glaciers of Canal Sarmiento. Cutting through Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park, this majestic waterway is surrounded by other-worldly beauty. Enjoy breakfast or lunch and watch as Amalia Glacier comes into view and witness countless seabirds that make their home in this dramatic landscape.

Day 10: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Cruise to Strait of Magellan.

Cruise to Punta Arenas.

The southern finial of the South American continent is as fractured as frost crystals, but the inlets, bays, and passages around the Strait of Magellan are home to a million wonders. Punta Arenas is the threshold to them all. From here, cruise visitors can venture to the high scarps of Torres del Paine National Park, the penguin colony at Seno Otway, or the Martian volcanic topography of Pali Aike National Park.

Travel to Cockburn Channel then continue to the Beagle Channel

Day 11: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Visit to Glacier Alley before arriving in Ushuaia, Argentina.

Cruise to Ushuaia

The southernmost town in the world, where dominating peaks loom on three sides; the fourth opens to the Beagle Channel, where sea lions bellow and king crab rules. Sample shore excursions: Tierra del Fuego National Park; Penguins & Beagle Channel.

Day 12: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Cruise to Cape Horn

The real Cape Horn is on Isla Hornos, a windblown, treeless island at the southernmost fringe of Tierra del Fuego. To the north is all of the Americas. Southward, it’s 500 miles of open ocean to Antarctica. To cruise around the Cape with Holland America is to become part of a half-millennia of history that starts with Magellan and Drake, continues with Richard Henry Dana and Charles Darwin, and now includes you. Give the explorers their due. Then stand on the deck and let the wind blow back your hair.

Day 13: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

At Sea.  Your journey south to Antarctica begins.

Day 14: MS ZAANDAM (B L D)

Travel to the Palmer archipelago.  This is a group of islands off the north-western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. It extends from Tower Island in the north to Anvers Island in the south. It is separated by the Gerlache and Bismarck straits from the Antarctic Peninsula and Wilhelm Archipelago

The Danco Coast.  The Danco Coast is that portion of the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula between Cape Sterneck and Cape Renard.
