The Lares Trek takes place on a hidden valley that very few outsiders have
ever entered. The trail offers the opportunity to see magnificent glaciers,
lakes and waterfalls, hot springs and experience the Inca way of life in the
mountains as you trek past the indigenous communities of Canchacancha,
Huacawasi and Yanahuara.
Includes:
• Transport from Cuzco
• Tents and camping equipment • Porters
• All meals while trekking • English speaking guides.
Choquequirao (meaning cradle of gold) is one of the most recently
discovered ruins in Peru. Located in a canyon, 2000 metres above the
glacier-fed Apurimac River, the site is a hidden archaeological gem, often
referred to as Machu Picchu’s sacred sister.
Trekking through here is a unique experience as the site is remotely
located along the Inca highway with the ruins fantastically preserved; only
certain areas are open to the public as others continue to be investigated
scientifically.
Day 1: Depart from Cuzco by bus stopping at the Tarawasi Ruins and Cunyac
Bridge on the way to Cachora. Begin the descent on donkeys into the

Day 2: Continue trek across the Apurimac River and up to the Santa Rosa hill
and the Maranpata climb with impressive views of the valleys.
Day 3: Begin a two-hour hike to Choquequirao and take a guided tour of the
archaeological complex.
Day 4: Descend to Santa Rosa and visit Rosalina Beach before camping at
Chiquiska.
