Take a different track and see Ecuador on board the exclusive 'Chiva Express' for a colourful and unique train ride along this original railroad from the Andes to the Coast. The adventure includes visits to Indian markets, Rio Bamba, Alausi, the Devil's Nose switchbacks, Cuenca and El Cajas National Park.

Departs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Day 1: QUITO - TAMBILLO - RIO BAMBA (L)

A highlight of this trip is to 'ride the roof' with a panoramic view of the stunning Andes mountains of Ecuador. Continue by bus to visit an Indian market and stay overnight at Rio Bamba, located at the foot of the imposing Chimborazo volcano.

Day 2: RIO BAMBA - ALAUSI - CUENCA (B, L, D)

Board the 'Chiva Express' for a scenic ride to Alausi, where you will experience the Devil's Nose switchbacks, one of the most impressive feats of rail engineering in the world. Continue south along the Andes by motorcar, visiting the Inca ruins of Ingapirca before reaching Cuenca at dusk.

Day 3: CUENCA (B, L)

Free day to explore the beautiful city of Cuenca, that is recognised as a World Cultural Heritage because for its colonial significance.

Day 4: CUENCA

Weather permitting, a full day visit to El Cajas National Park or Gualaceo Valley. Afternoon return to Cuenca, airport transfer for return flight.
