Sucre is the constitutional capital of Bolivia. It is a living expression of both colonial and modern times. Visit the Cathedral, Museo de la Recoleta, which was established by a Franciscan Order in the early 16th century, Casa de la Libertad where Simon Bolivar signed the Declaration of Independence in 1825 and the Freedom bell at San Francisco cloister. The historic city of Sucre, also known as the City of Four Names, was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1991 for its wealth of colonial architecture.
