Spanish and Indian Cultures

The north western provinces feature traces of pre-Columbian cultures mingled with the ruins of native villages, as well as forts and constructions dating back to the Spanish conquest and colonisation. Time seems to stand still in the high plateau of the Puna, a land full of mountain ranges, steep mountain paths and gorges. Villages have been built among the small valleys and multicoloured and monochromatic hills covered with huge cacti surround their borders. This region offers landscapes full of contrast for tourists to enjoy, from the high peaks to the plains, saltpans and subtropical rainforests.

Day 1 - SALTA

Transfer to the hotel. Salta City Tour. Overnight.

Day 2 - SALTA (B, L)

Full day tour to Humahuaca Gorge passing by Leon Volci¡n, Tumbaya, Purmamarca and its Seven Colours Mountain, Tilcara and its Archaeological Museum and Pucara, and old Indian Fortress, the Uquia Church and Humahuaca.

Day 3 - SALTA / CAFAYATE (B, L)

Continental Breakfast. Full day tour of Cafayate with lunch on route. A drive through the spectacular Calchaqui Valleys up to the village of Cafayate. This is the wine producing area of the Northwest region. Lunch. Short visit of the village and return to Salta.

Day 4 - SALTA (B)

Continental breakfast. Transfer from the Hotel to the Airport.
